Tips for keeping your BioTek® Precision™ Automated Microplate Pipetting System in good working order:

  • Rinse the manifold and prime the tubing daily, overnight, and before storage/shipment.

  • Replace the pipette tip O-rings at least every 6 months.

  • Fluid-handling components and work surfaces should be cleaned at least monthly and the linear ways.

  • Clean the supply platform every month or less.

  • Clean the stainless steel pipette tips, supply bottle, and the manifold periodically or as needed.

  • Decontaminate the instrument periodically or as needed.

  • Clean and lubricate the linear ways and motor screws at least every 6 months.

  • The use of any lubricant on the fluid-handling components will interfere with the dispensing performance and may cause irreparable damage to them. Specifically, do not apply lubricants to the manifold channel-end seals, bottle-cover seals, any tubing connections, or any surface that is a part of the fluid path.  In addition, do not apply lubricants to the stainless steel pipette tips or to the O-rings that come into contact with the disposable tips. Any lubricant present on these components may interfere with the reliable retention of the disposable tips.

  • Do not immerse the instrument. Spray it with liquid or use a wet cloth. Do not allow cleaning solution to run into the interior of the instrument.

  • Do not over-wet the external keypad, as this will cause damage. To clean the keypad, moisten a clean cloth with deionized or distilled water and wipe it. Dry immediately with a clean, dry cloth.

BioTek® Precision™ Pipetting System Error Codes:

  • All errors starting with a ‘A’ are Fatal Errors. Should you receive an error code starting with an ‘A’, you will need to call for service.

  • All error codes starting with a 0, 1, 2, or 3 are non-fatal, general errors that require attention.  For the codes that represent motor errors, the fourth digit of the code represents the affected motor.  For example, error code 0200 means that the platform motor (left) could not find its optical sensor. Please refer to the Operator’s Manual for further details, a code description listing, and probably causes.

  • Occasionally, an error code may appear without the text. These codes are communication errors, are always in a negative value format, and are displayed on the host PC as text messages. For example: -3, -401.  See Operator’s Manual for a list of these errors’ and their probable causes.

  • All errors are displayed in Precision Power™ on the controlling PC.
